Protect our borders

All travellers into this country should be checked. No one should be allowed into this country without a passport and visa or if his or her identity cannot be established without reasonable doubt. The visa system should exclude known criminals and other undesirables. Anybody failing these criteria should be returned to their embarkation point.

Prisons There seems to have been overcrowding and lack of prison cells for ever.
As John Prescott had great success finding many brown sites, disused government land and building sites for use as home building sites in the crowded south east, we should task him with finding sites for new prisons all over the country.
We should build more prisons. Do you agree?
For the threat of prison to be a genuine deterrent there should always be spare capacity. Do you agree ?
What additional capacity should be available?
As a short term measure we could increase the security of open prisons to prevent prisoners absconding and use them more for non violent offenders. Do you agree?
All foreign nationals in our prisons should be deported at the end of their sentences.

Prison Reform.

It has long been established that prison does not reform criminals or prepare them for a normal life. Given that regular work can provide many benefits could we not discuss with the business world ways of employing prisoners in businesses inside the prisons? It is possible that this would benefit all.

Identity Cards

Every year the government issues estimates of enormous fraud within the benefit system. One step would be to insist that all claimants have a smart identity card and no payments can be processed without the card. Rigorous monitoring of the payments to all cards should be simple and should help to reduce the frauds.

If the government is intent on introducing ID cards, the system should be checked by this method and the savings used to provide free cards to anyone else on a voluntary basis.

Do you agree with compulsory ID cards for everyone.
On the 2nd November 2007 Italy brought in a new law making it easier to expel “undesirables” deemed a threat to society. We should follow this lead with our own law.
